compound-chic

Arizona top / vintage skirt / ASOS shoes

Just a very simple outfit for my longest school day of the week: I have classes from 10-4, but with the added time needed for transport, I'm out of the house from 9-5.

I've been doing my hair like this all week because it takes two bobby pins and absolutely no effort or time...and also because I got tired of teasing it up and having to comb out a rat's nest every single day.

I only noticed today how much it reminded me of Big Love, specifically the women of Juniper Creek compound with perfectly poofed-up hair at the front. I think I'd make a great sister-wife; I've got the hair down pat, all I need now is one of those prairie dresses to complete the look. ;D

Song of the moment

Hotel of the Laughing Trees - "Weather Maps for Nikolai"

We ask for nothing but some peace of mind to dress our wounds and say good night.

This band represents my favorite genre other than prog rock. I don't really know how to describe the sound, but I'll try: it's a little like The Dear Hunter, The Gay Blades, or the rock version of a Ludo/Panic at the Disco lovechild. You know, the songs with bouncy beats and toe-tapping infectiousness, but it's not actually pop? It's kind of hard to describe, but I love it. :D
