Today's outfit was inspired by the colors of Marc Jacobs S/S '11, which really helped to counteract some of the gloominess of the weather. But looking back now, it probably wasn't the best day to spray my hair up into a freestanding (bobby pin-less!) bouffant thing. And I didn't even bring my umbrella so I had to use my tiny lecture notebook as a (pretty much completely ineffective) shield against the elements. The pictures above depict the post-drowned look, during which my hair had lost most of its poofiness. Although I am rather surprised by how well my cheap and smelly hairspray has held up -- even this slight poof is more than what I'd expected. :)

A rather bloated outfit post today, but we had a half-hour wait for the bus so we took the time to get creative with the shots.

And I got to read the newest issue of Lula! Angie randomly found a copy at Borders for $15 (!!!!!), and oh my goodness, it's absolutely beautiful! My eyes were glazed over in awe and envy the entire time, and I can totally see why it's so popular amongst style bloggers -- it felt amazing to just be luxuriating in its presence. :) I need my own copy...

This outfit shoot was essentially a glorified (and documented!) goof-off session, made up of silly poses, silly shots, cracking up over nothing...but honestly, those kinds are the absolute best. I'd rather look stupid while having a good time than be one of those neverendingly sophisticated, perfect, gorgeous, are-you-even-a-real-human-being-like-the-rest-of-us, style bloggers. Because the former is just genuinely me, and to try to convey anything different would frankly be fake.

We all like to present the best of ourselves on our blogs, and the best of me just happens to be whatever makes me the happiest -- goofing off and acting stupid is one of those things. I don't have the time to carefully cultivate a graceful and cultured image of myself when, in all honesty, genuine-me is simply so much more fun! :)

It's finally time to bring out the tights! Although I think I was a little eager today, because despite the cold, rainy morning, by midday it was sunny and humid, and much too warm for them. But I won't stop being optimistic -- I can't wait to be properly reintroduced to my stash of colored tights!

I felt perfectly on trend today, with my breton-striped top, heeled hiker boots, and my knit hat precariously perched (which I cheated with by bobby-pinning in place!). But I think the bright pops of magenta/fuchsia make this outfit very me. :D

This dress went through a truckload of alterations before it became even remotely wearable. The first time I tried it on, it resembled a floral flour sack -- in all honesty, it was a bag. After six inches off the hem and a well-needed taking-in at the bodice and waist, it finally fits! Well-worth it, too, especially considering the fact that it was a result of my own hackjob excuse for clothing modification.

My new shoes arrived, and I'm absolutely smitten! The heel! Seriously, the most beautiful, graceful, and elegant wedge heel I've ever seen! I have a feeling that I'm going to have to stop myself from wearing them every day nonstop for the next few weeks. :)
